Are you Living Healthy With Diabetes?

Whether diabetes affects you or someone in your family, the following tips are healthy habits to help you live smarter.

  • Eat on a regular schedule. Plan ahead and make your meals well-balanced.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Take care of your feet.
  • Don’t smoke.
  • Know your numbers by having your A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol tested regularly

Diabetes Management and Wellness

This program from the International Diabetes Center delivers basic education for patients to understand and take care of their diabetes on a daily basis. Structured to encourage, support and promote self-management and long term maintenance, this class is delivered in multiple sessions. A referral from your doctor is required.

Foot screenings

People with diabetes should have an annual comprehensive foot exam to reduce the risk of foot complications. This exam is painless, non-invasive and takes about 15 minutes.

Gestational Diabetes management

Gestational diabetes is high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy. Understand how to manage gestational diabetes with proper nutrition, physical activity and blood sugar monitoring.

Insulin Initiation

Receive personal instruction and hands on experience on safely administering insulin.

Medical nutrition therapy consultation - (up to 3 hours with registered dietitian)

Meet with a registered dietician to help establish a healthy personal meal plan that will address health issues such as blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, kidney issues, or those with specific dietary restrictions.

Nail Care Treatment

We are able to address problems such as thickened nails from fungus, ingrown toenails, callouses, corns, and the unique conditions related to diabetes and cardiovascular disease. After this evaluation is complete, your nails will be professionally trimmed and problem areas addressed.

My Health, My Life: A Guide to Well Being

Designed to help individuals who suffer from chronic illness learn simple techniques on how to live a healthy life by managing their symptoms. For patients living with arthritis, diabetes, asthma, depression, obesity, heart disease, pain, cancer-related illness or any other chronic illness. Caregivers and family support persons are encouraged to attend. Classes are 2-1/2 hours each, once a week for six weeks. For a schedule of classes and information, call 509-577-5015.
