Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers at Memorial unanimously agree: it's a rewarding experience that gives people from all walks of life the opportunity to really make a difference. From acquiring new skills or building friendships, our friendly, helpful and compassionate volunteers feel good about helping our patients and their friends and families.

Volunteering has a rich history at Memorial, starting in 1948 when the first guild members began fundraising to meet the community need for a new hospital. Today, volunteers are an integral part of the hospital staff. They supplement areas and departments that enhance the service and hospitality given to patients, visitors and staff.

We encourage you to meet our volunteers and find out more about the benefits of volunteering at .

Our 311 active volunteers serve in 80 volunteer positions and 57 departments. Some of the main campus opportunities include:

  • Main information desk.
  • Messenger.
  • Chaplaincy services.
  • Patient room service.
  • Mailing and special projects.
  • Gift shop.

There are opportunities both on and off campus for individuals and groups to support the community including:

Youth Volunteers

Youth volunteers between the ages of 16 and 18 are part of our YouthWorks program. Many youth volunteers are considering careers in medical professions and enjoy being part of the daily workings of the hospital. They grow in their understanding of health care while completing hours of community service that university admissions teams look fondly on when reviewing their essays and applications.

Children's Village, North Star Lodge, 'Ohana, Home Health and Hospice volunteers

There as so many opportunities to get involved in the community and make new friends by volunteering at Memorial's many off-campus facilities. Volunteers are needed to work with patients as well as behind the scenes. You can select a location that appeals to you to be matched up with a center most in need of your time and talents.

Event Volunteers

The Memorial Foundation and Children's Miracle Network need community volunteers to share their time, talents and energy in a variety of fundraising activities. These events are generally a great deal of fun and only last a few days, enabling volunteers to make a real difference without a long-term commitment. Please call and we can place you on a contact list for when the next event opportunity becomes available.
