GI Hospitalist in Yakima, WA

Responsible for providing high quality and cost-effective medical management of patients. Diagnose, treat, and medically manage patients who are in the hospital with disorders of the gastroenterological (i.e. digestive) tract and liver. Perform 3-4 pre-scheduled out-patient procedures per week. Diagnose and treat conditions such as colon polyps and cancer, hepatitis, gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn), peptic ulcer disease, colitis, gallbladder and biliary tract disease, nutritional problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and pancreatitis. Perform diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy (upper endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy) to visualize the inside of the intestinal tract. Interpret the findings from these diagnostic procedures in order to make appropriate recommendations to treat conditions and/or prevent cancer. Perform advanced endoscopic procedures such as polypectomy (removal of colon polyps), esophageal and intestinal dilation (stretching of narrowed areas), and hemostasis (injection or cautery to stop bleeding). In addition to treating hospital patients, this position may also require one or more shifts per week at our outpatient GI clinic.


  • An M.D. or D.O. degree, or the foreign equivalent.
  • Completion of an ACGME- or COCA-accredited residency program in Internal Medicine
  • Completion of a US fellowship in Gastroenterology
  • Washington State medical license or eligibility for a medical license

All education, training, and experience may be gained concurrently. Applicants subject to pre-employment background check.
