Welcome to the Sleep Center at Memorial
Your interest in our Sleep Center may be motivated by your concern about your own sleep health or your desire to understand and eliminate the sleep problems of a loved one. The entire staff of the Sleep Center at Memorial is dedicated to giving you the knowledge and treatment needed to improve your sleep quality and identify and treat any sleep disorders that may be present.
The creation of the Sleep Center at Memorial required the combined experience and commitment to excellence of many people. The Center represents the merging of independent organizations to produce a treatment facility combining decades of experience and caring attention to each patient. Designing a warm and inviting place to visit and sleep was essential to our success. We have combined the resources of a great hospital and the expertise of the most highly regarded Sleep Medicine practice in our region to provide you with the tools you need to improve your sleep health.
History of the Sleep Center
Geoffrey M. Greenberg, M.D., is the medical director and founder of the Sleep Center at Memorial. Dr. Greenberg is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, CLA School of Medicine and completed board-certification in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at the University of Washington. Dr. Greenberg began his study of the new field of Sleep Medicine at U.C.L.A. and continued to gain expertise in the field throughout his training and while a faculty member at the U.W. School of Medicine. He became the third physician in Washington State to achieve board-certification in sleep medicine. He now devotes all of his professional time to the treatment of sleep disorders.
Within a year of beginning practice in Yakima in 1985, Dr. Greenberg founded the Central Washington Sleep Disorders Clinic. He also served as the medical director of the region’s first sleep laboratory, which opened in 1986. In 2003 Dr. Greenberg found that he needed a new partner capable of fulfilling his vision of a Sleep Center that would not only deliver world-class medical care but provide a thoughtfully designed, comfortable and attractive location for patients to spend the night. Memorial was the ideal partner. Through it’s commitment to excellence in patient care and the development of innovative treatment facilities such as North Star Lodge and Children’s Village, Memorial has proven itself as the preeminent health care leader in the Yakima Valley. After nearly a year of planning and design and months of construction, the Sleep Center at Memorial invited its first patients to a new sleep clinic and its first overnight guests to its six five-star sleep bedrooms.
