For Patients and Visitors
Visitation Policy
To help reduce the spread of the influenza virus, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital is limiting visitors at this time. We are currently treating patients with seasonal and H1N1 influenza. Our efforts are to protect visitors, patients, families, staff, and physicians from possible exposure to the flu virus while at the hospital as well as to protect our patients from virus coming from outside of the hospital.
- Please do not bring children under the age of 14 to the hospital at this time.
- We ask that no more than two guests visit a patient at one time.
- Behavioral Health Services hours are weekday evenings 5 to 7 p.m. and weekends noon to 2 p.m. and evenings 5 to 7 p.m.
- The Family Birthplace is located on the fourth floor of the hospital, and can be reached by using the Main elevator located by the Gift Shop. (The west elevator does not provide access to the fourth floor for visitors) Maternity patients may have adult visitors from noon until 8 p.m. After 8 p.m., visitors may only visit patients in labor. Each patient may have two adult visitors and a support person. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed. Video and recording devices are allowed only after the birth.
- NICU and Pediatrics visitors must be over age 14. Parents and guardians are welcome to visit anytime, however only two people at the bedside at one time and all visitors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian of the patient.
- Space in the Critical Care Unit is limited. We ask that families designate one or two visitors only to be in this waiting area at one time.
Evening Visitation
The entrance to Memorial for visitation after 8:30 is through the emergency department (ED) entrance. Those arriving after 8:30 p.m. will need to check in with security for a pass to be allowed into patient care areas beyond the ED. Please be courteous of patients waiting for ED services, and protect yourself and those you are visiting, by avoiding contact with those who may have influenza.
