1. What inspired you to choose medicine as a career?
I chose nursing as a career while serving a four-year tour of duty in the United States Navy as a Corpsman (medic). I saw the flight nurses and just knew I wanted to do that. My grandmother has pictures of me as a child sporting an old fashion nursing outfit with cap and all.
2. Do you have a philosophy or approach to working with patients?
My philosophy with patients is to always try to be optimistic. I deal with many work-related orthopedic injuries and this approach has served my patients well. I really try to listen to their concerns and fears.
3. What do you appreciate most about the doctors and staff you work with?
I appreciate the dedication and compassion my co-workers and staff display daily.
4. Tell us a little known fact about you or talk about what you like to do outside of work.
I started a Nursing Program at Heritage University, played violin, and had my son when I was 43. I love to workout, eat right and stay healthy. I have been known to indulge in chocolate and mochas!!
5. When you retire, what would you like to be remembered for?
Retirement....It may never happen. :) If it does, I would like to be remembered for my dedication to patients, preventative health education and sense of humor.
The Springs is recognized as a Washington State-designated Center of Occupational Health and Education (COHE). Working closely with Labor and Industries, the aim is to improve outcomes for on-the-job injuries while reducing the cost for the employers.
Provider Based Billing
Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital has designated The Springs as a hospital outpatient department. Patient bills will include two separate charges, one for the healthcare provider, and the other for a facility fee to partially defray the costs of providing non-physician staff, equipment and supplies. Our goal is to be up front with our patients about what their costs may be prior to receiving care. Most Medicare patients, those who have secondary insurance to Medicare, will have no out-of-pocket expense. We will work with our patients to determine how their insurance company will cover this fee.
