2811 Tieton Drive, Yakima

With an average length of stay of just over five days, Memorial’s Psychiatric Services Center aims to stabilize and return patients to a healthy environment at discharge. Located on the main hospital campus, our staff is able to provide complete inpatient treatment, combining medical and physical treatment with psychiatric care. Each patient is provided with an individualized treatment plan and is assisted by a case manager, to enable them to take charge of their care.

Psychiatric services include:

  • Psychiatric assessments and evaluations.
  • Medication management.
  • Medication changes in a safe, secure environment.
  • One-on-one monitoring as required.
  • Consultation with primary care physicians.
  • On-site diagnostic services and pharmacy.
  • Specialist physician providing ECT therapy.
  • ADHD assessment.
  • Group therapy.

The Psychiatric Services Center is an 18-bed short-term acute care facility designed for individuals 18 years of age and older, who meet and agree to our admission criteria. The center is staffed by a team of more than 30 specialists comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, counselors and a chemical dependency specialist. The facility admits both voluntary and involuntary patients via physician referral. Upon admission, comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments are performed to determine the need for inpatient treatment. The patient must be accepted for admission by the admitting psychiatrist on duty.

Therapy in a supportive environment

In the bright and spacious unit, patients are able to participate in group therapy and are provided with educational resources to encourage healthy lifestyle choices, as well as learning to understand their illness, developing coping skills and handling stress. Recreational activities include a pool table, games, books, exercise equipment and a DVD player. The unit is unlocked and family visits are encouraged.

Once stabilized, the Psychiatric Services Center arranges referral to outpatient follow-up, day treatment programs or assisted living, depending on the needs of the patient.

The Inpatient Treatment Program provides an intensive structure for adults in a crisis situation. Patients who are unable to remain in their current living situation and who require short-term assistance may benefit from the treatment options available at our Psychiatric Services Center.
