Occupational therapy treatment includes addressing areas of self care such as dressing, feeding, and bathing, and helps patients integrate back into their every day environment. Occupational Therapists focus on the following areas:
- Activities of daily living and helping patients reach independence in order to function in their homes, the community, or work-based settings.
- Upper extremity injuries such as paralysis, repetitive strain disorders or orthopedic conditions such as post-surgical rehabilitation
- Low vision and environmental adaptations to offer assistive device recommendations which increase the overall independence of the patient.
- On-the-job injuries which require work conditioning/work hardening or an ergonomic analysis to help injured workers successfully return to the workforce
