Cathe, Chef Manager

Memorial is known for its delicious meals that send fresh aromas throughout the café. Cathe, the hard-working, enthusiastic Chef Manager who started as a relief cook 19 years ago, is partially responsible for the mouth-watering recipes that draw customers in for homemade soup and entrees. Cathe takes a hands-on approach to collecting recipes, preparing weekly menus, managing cooks, and overseeing catering.

Cathe encourages her co-workers and customers to bring in new recipes to try in the café. “I strive to get two new recipes a week,” says Cathe. “I like to shake things up a little bit.” In January, she and another cook spent six weeks in a home-style kitchen reviewing, cooking, and revamping recipes that Memorial serves to patients. Some patients may be restricted to eating certain foods due to their diet. “In the café our goal is to prepare and taste test our recipes to ensure that our patients are served healthy, quality, delicious dishes,” says Cathe.


Cathe and her husband Ed, Performance Improvement at Memorial, enjoy spending time with their two boys and extended family during the weekends. They also enjoy going to church together. Cathe likes to garden during the summer months.

Why She Loves Memorial

“I love working in Memorial’s Café because I feel the staff is a close group, just like my family at home,” says Cathe. “We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.” Cathe has worked at Memorial for 17 years along with several other employees in the café.
