About working at Memorial
Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital has been a true community hospital since 1948. Since then, with pioneering thought and planning, Memorial Hospital has worked to improve the health of those it serves. From the neonatal intensive care unit to our award-winning Passport to Health®, curriculum for elementary students, to home health care for the aging, Memorial Hospital strives to improve life for our diverse community.
Today, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital is a recognized referral center for Central Washington physicians. Maternal , neonatal, pediatric, surgical, cancer and psychiatric patients come to Memorial from a large geographical area. Yet these specialties are only part of Memorial’s commitment to health care.
Certified by The Joint Commission, Memorial is a 225-bed hospital, including Central Washington's only regional perinatal center. Annually some 11,000 patients are admitted and more than 70,000 outpatient procedures are performed. Our Trauma Center sees 40,000 patients annually and more than 2,800 babies are delivered each year in our Family Birthplace.
Among the modern medical services available are nuclear medicine, ultrasound, noninvasive vascular treatment, computerized biochemistry, mammography, computerized tomography, cardiac catheterization, physical rehabilitation, critical care, outpatient surgery, family-centered maternity, occupational health services and 24-hour physician coverage in emergency.
Memorial’s staff is constantly involved with in-service programs to improve existing techniques and learn new ones. To complement the nursing and paramedic programs offered by area colleges and universities, Memorial Hospital provides clinical training for nurses, pharmacists, medical technologists, radiology technologists, dietitians, emergency medical technicians and radiation therapy technologists.
The outstanding medical staff is composed of more than 300 physicians representing 33 specialties. Doctors often cite the sophisticated facilities and geographic location as reasons why they chose
